Setting up TradingView for a clean analysis workflow
Layouts, templates and alerts that keep analysis consistent from one session to the next.
A consistent chart setup reduces the number of decisions you make before you have even looked at price.
One layout per purpose
Create separate saved layouts for bias (higher timeframes, few tools) and execution (lower timeframe, risk tools). Switching layouts is faster and cleaner than toggling indicators.
Indicator templates
Save groups of indicators as templates — for example Structure (swing structure + session levels) and Execution (FVG mapper + risk overlay). Templates also make it easier to evaluate a tool: add it to one template and compare.
Adding invite-only scripts
Invite-only scripts appear under Indicators → Invite-only scripts once the publisher has granted your TradingView username access. If a script does not appear, check the username you submitted is exact (it is case-sensitive in some places) and refresh the chart.
Alerts
- Prefer alerts on bar close for structure-based conditions to avoid intrabar noise.
- Name alerts with the symbol, timeframe and setup so notifications are self-explanatory.
- Review and delete stale alerts weekly.
Keep the chart readable
If you cannot describe what every line on your chart is for, remove the lines you can't explain.
